It was a huge year for MRMS as we moved into a new facility and expanded our fleet significantly, enabling us to better serve our clients and provide specialist 24/7 drainage and utility services.
In an exciting development for the company, we moved into new premises in Bradford this year, with spacious offices, a meeting room and workshop, along with the room we need for our expanding fleet of vehicles. These well-provisioned new premises, conveniently located beside the M62, show how much we are growing as a company – a real testament to the hard work of our dedicated staff!
We were delighted to welcome Tom Persson on board as a Director in April. A vastly experienced drainage engineer with over 20 years in the wastewater sector, Tom’s knowledge and extensive industry contacts have been the catalyst for a year of growth.
The MRMS team has now grown to 11 full-time staff, including five water jetting engineers, two recycler tanker operators, a CCTV survey specialist and an Operations Manager. Alongside Directors Mark, Matthew and Tom, our teams have had a busy year working with customers from the utility sector and commercial organisations across construction, food processing and housing.
Projects for clients in the utility sector have included ongoing inspections and maintenance of Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs), Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) contracts, and deep cleans of large storage tanks. We’ve also undertaken a wide range of reactive drain and sewer work, from CCTV surveys to large-scale clean-ups requiring tankers.
Having a growing fleet of well-equipped vehicles to cover this wide range of drainage and utility services is integral to being an agile and responsive company, and we made a significant investment this year in our ability to respond to any drainage situation.
Among the vehicles to hit the road were six drainage vans fitted out with compact 1-Series and 3-Series jetters by Andy Guest Jetters. These lightweight high-performance jetters are ideal for 3.5t commercial vehicles, leaving space for additional drainage equipment. These jetter combinations have proven to be suited to a wide range of work we do for clients, including maintenance programmes for Yorkshire Water.
We also launched a new CCTV van, fitted with an IPEK Mainline system, allowing us to send our survey teams out with faster turnaround times, along with the ability to combine cameras with our jetters to detect and prevent further issues in a single visit. This single-resolution approach is cost-effective for customers and leads to less disruption on-site.
In recent weeks, we have also added a tracked remote jetting reel and an Izuzu loadall tipper to the fleet . We’re also in the process of developing a fully equipped confined space trailer, that will include winches, PPE kit and breathing apparatus for deployment on jobs requiring additional health and safety provisions.
And then there is our new Cappellotto recycler tanker, an addition that’s both beauty and beast! Designed for the rapid cleaning of sewers and ducts, this impressive machine works efficiently and economically.
To simplify its operation: the Recycler uses suction to collect water-filled sludge into the debris tank. The reclamation system then extracts water from the debris, directing it through a series of filters and cyclones that isolate heavy solid particles. These solids are then directed into the sludge tank, while the water is transferred to the water tank. Within the water tank, the water passes through an additional set of fine filters, making it ready for use in water jetting operations.
As well as being cost-efficient, the new recycler fits perfectly with our values of lessening ecological impact through water conservation and adhering to environmental regulations.
Speaking of regulations, we celebrated another milestone for the company this year as we gained Constructionline Gold accreditation along with SSIP membership. We also achieved ISO 9001 and 45001 status, and these accreditations underscore our organisation’s thorough evaluation of governance and risk management, enabling us to confidently pursue upcoming projects and assure buyers of our compliance.
With our expanding fleet on the road and our accreditations proudly earned, we are looking forward to a fantastic 2024, but we wouldn’t have got here without our amazing team, our suppliers and of course our loyal clients. To you all, we send greetings of the season and wish you a happy new year!
